An extreme attempt to eliminate our vulnerability is to try to not be permeable to anything—to not feel anything, the pain or the pleasure. And when you eliminate that vulnerability completely, when you don’t feel anger or sadness, love or hate, need or desire, when you don’t feel any emotion at all, you start feeling alienated and that you’re not human. The effect is that you feel you’re not human, because you’ve cut away the most characteristic of human qualities, your vulnerability.
Complete, one-hundred-percent, absolute and total vulnerability is the same thing as complete, one-hundred-percent, absolute and total invulnerability.
